Still need a bit more color work, but I think I've got the basic coat designs down now.

Very nice. I'd like to ask how many cuts do you think you'll need for this project? You've said these were inspired by navy uniforms - how many types of them are you planning to do? Will they get some kind of rank insignia?

I think I have all the cuts down now; both coats are unisex, with the role of the pony determining which is worn. The only variation that still needs to be made is the earth/uni version of what Thunderlane is modeling—in which case the wing flap is removed in favor of a single-welt pocket, as on Bon Bon's coat. I haven't quite decided if there will be additional embroidery or pins or any of that yet...I may just vary the number of stripes. There might be little icons or something but that's kinda up in the air.

I was actually wondering if Bon Bon's coat has real pockets or are those just ornamental - now I know:)
Thanks for the answer.

I was going to have the pocket flaps on the outside to make it more obvious but...welt pockets are waaaay cooler :D

I'm really liking these coats. I especially like how you designed them to make sense for a pony to wear, instead of just putting a standard human coat on them.

Thanks! It was a fun little challenge to try and come up with ways to turn something like a pea coat into something that made sense on a pony's form.
